  • Pregnancy update and prayer request

    Hey Xanga friends,

Some of you may have seen my comment on Facebook the other day, but I thought Id give the Xanga world a brief pregnancy update, and ask for your prayers as well.

I am not quite 36 weeks pregnant yet, but found out last Wednesday that I am already 4 cm dilated and 90% effaced, and the baby's head is engaged (station 0).  At first I was all excited - she's coming soon!  But the reality is that if she comes now, we may be looking at a NICU stay as her lungs may not be fully developed and she may not be able to swallow/eat as well as she needs to.  It would not be the end of the world, and she should be fine, but really we'd prefer to no have to go through a NICU stay.  So ... could you pray with us that this little girl will stay inside for at least a few more days?  At this point every day counts.  Thanks.

Overall, we're not too stressed - like I said, even born now she'll most likely be fine.  David is making me promise to rest and not do ANY housework or unnecessary things, which is tough, but I can handle it.  And it's worth it.  If we make it through this weekend we'll feel better.

Thanks again, and we'll keep you posted

  • Church Update

As we drove into the garage after church this morning, George got David and my attention and said "Mommy and Daddy, I hope that church was good for you guys because I want to go back".

Where do you think we'll be going in the future?!?!?!?

Thank you God!  After 5 weeks of trying different churches in the Milwaukee area, I think we have finally found a place to settle.  The kids stuff was great.   Both children had a really good time.  George was a bit upset when he first went in, and the Children's Pastor sat down with him and D and really took the time and put in the effort to make him comfortable.  We were very impressed with her, her workers and the program they do for the kids.  Monkey didn't want to leave when we went to pick him up

As for David and I ... it's a very different style of church than we've been used to the past 8 plus years.  Much more "old school AG" if that means anything to you!  Lots of hallelujah's and people in suits and ties!  BUT ... the people worshipped (we didn't know the songs, but will learn them) and the message was biblical and "right on" - not just proof texting or someone spouting their own opinions and trying to back them up with scripture.  And did I mention that the kids work was great?

The other exciting thing we learned talking to the pastor earlier in the week is that they are wanting to move the church towards a cell based structure!  So thought they don't really have much in the way of Small Groups yet, it is their heart and future plans!  (They even met with our own dear friend Randall recently to learn how to do so - so they must be cool

So ... thank you to all of you who prayed with us through this struggle to find a church and who encouraged us to keep going.  Victory International Fellowship definitely has not replaced the Houston Vineyard in our hearts as "home" yet ... but hopefully in time it will!  (We will ALWAYS love you guys though!!!!!!!!)

  • I want to go home! Not to Houston really … just to the Houston Vineyard!

I miss you friends, and just the church in general!!!!

We’ve visited 4 churches here in Milwaukee so far … and none come close to being the HOME that the Houston Vineyard was, even from day one (thanks to Jo and Becky!). Today was the first church that I felt I could close my eyes and worship in … but the sermon was unexciting to say the least, and there was NO ministry time (literally he finished his sermon, said a brief prayer and said “see you next week“. By the time we picked up our kids the church was almost empty). And the kids work was poor (30 kids, 2 teachers, no toys, a video bible lesson … and none of the workers gave us ANY feedback after the service on the kids and how they’d been - WE MISS VERONICA AND CECI!!!!!!!!!).

Last week we visited the Vineyard … which was definitely more friendly than the others we’d been to … but worship was uninspiring, the church only had 50 in the service (counting the band and pastor!) and they don’t have Life Groups. George enjoyed Sunday School, but for Monkey they only have nursery - not even a Bible Story.

The two churches we visited the first two weeks we have some theological problems with, though one of them has a great system of Life Groups and Community. And the women’s group was very welcoming to me when I visited with the boys.

So … the bottom line is that I want to come HOME to the HOUSTON VINEYARD! Please pray that God will help us choose a church so we can get settled here and make Milwaukee home.

On a positive note, we’re loving the lifestyle here! Today it was about 86F and we went to the beach for the afternoon where the boys dug in the sand and splashed in the water! And every day so far has been COOL enough to play outside all afternoon! I don’t miss Houston’s heat and humidity … or bugs! And we’re getting to know our neighbors, which is great.  And David has been home on time/early every evening, and not had to work after the boys are in bed or on the weekends!

So life is not all bad … but I do miss you guys!

  • I'm so annoyed! I just posted a LONG update about being in Milwaukee ... and lost it all!  I can't repeat it now, so I'll just post a few pics (if I can figure out how to do so) and try to write again later!

    Miss you all!

David enjoying HIS new toy!  Yes, we do have enough grass to warrant this purchase as well!

My new retreat!  This is the view from our back door!  And it's mostly all our as well!  I feel so blessed to have such a place I can relax in anytime I want.  So far we've seen rabbits, squirrels, birds and DEER in our back yard!  The boys love playing outside all day, and Charkie is loving having all the space to run around in!  We've had to install an electric fence though (no fences allowed without a city permit) which he doesn't like - but he's getting the hang of staying inside the safe area!  It only took a few shocks, thankfully!

Ok, more soon!  I need to get back to unpacking (actually, we're mostly unpacked - just the office really) and organizing ... and keeping peace

    MISS YOU!

  • Getting Cold

So I said I wasn't going to miss the Houston heat ... but yesterday I started to wonder.  My mom and I took the boys to Pirates Cove, a big water park near their house.  We got there about 11am, and it was warm out (85F), but after an hour in the water the tips of my fingers were numb!  Yes, I was that cold!  The boys were both shivering when we stopped for lunch!  I've NEVER felt that swimming in Houston!

I DO miss Houston   Very much in fact.  I get sad every time I think about getting on another airplane and NOT going to Houston.  I miss my friends....
